I believed for a few years that working with food was my true calling and that I wanted to pursue a career as a chef. I tried working in kitchens for while and learned that it was not the career path for me. Enter graphic design. I was introduced to a set of skills and programs that allowed me to celebrate my love for food from somewhere that wasn’t a restaurant kitchen—the pages of a magazine. I began my own food publication and called it Soddisfare, which in Italian means “to satisfy.” I published my first issue in the spring of 2015, and it featured all of my own photography, writing, recipes, and design. I’m still working on Issue 2, but in the meantime I’ve created Mescolato (meaning “stirred”), a companion booklet of cocktail recipes.
